If you want to unwind, the villa’s pool is a pretty and private oasis, surrounded by trees with wonderful mountain views beyond, and if you want to see the sea, the front patio is a perfect vantage point. You can park yourself here with a book and a drink while the children take a nap perhaps, and at the same time admire the beautifully maintained lawned gardens, which are shared with two other villas. Eating out is convenient and very local; easier still is your villa’s own outdoor kitchen/barbecue terrace for the ultimate in relaxed family dining. Step 1 After you have collected your car at Heraklion Airport, make your way from the Departure area to the traffic lights (at this crossroads the Terminal buildings should be behind you, or on your left). Follow this road and head under the bridge following signs for “Agios Nikolaos”. The road bends sharply round to the left and you join the main National Highway. Follow signs direction “Agios Nikolaos or “Ierapetra”. NB. You may meet some road works - just continue following the same signs as previously mentioned. As long as you follow the signs for “Agios Nikolaos” you will be fine. Continue along the highway to Agios Nikolaos. Step 2 Continue on this road for some time (50 mins?). You will eventually pass a Shell/Peugeot/Toyota garage on your right and a bit further on, two further petrol stations one on each side of the road. You will reach a set of traffic lights, which are on the outskirts of Agios Nikolaos. Turn right at these traffic lights following the signs for Ierapetra. Step 3 Follow this road for approximately 12kms and you will enter Istro(n) Village which has a BP petrol station on the right, and a number of cafes, shops and ATM. Exit Istro and follow the road signage for Sitia (Siteia). From Istron to Sitia is approximately 55kms and around one hour’s drive. Step 4 Upon entering Sitia you will pass two supermarkets and come to a roundabout. TURN RIGHT onto the major road heading for Ierapetra. After 150m turn LEFT at the Traffic Lights. You will pass “ΚΡΗΤΙΚΟΣ” (pronounced as Kritikos) supermarket on the left, you can park opposite in a large car park if you wish to stop and do some shopping. After 400m, and just before the end of the road TURN LEFT in front of the Sitia Beach Hotel, go 100m to the beach and turn RIGHT. (After 2kms, IGNORE the Simpson Travel sign which is for Villa Isidora) Keep on this road for 17km heading straight for Palekastro. Step 5 Upon entering the village you will make your way to the village square with a church on your right and taverna ITANOS directly in front of you creating a fork in the road. Keep to the left of the taverna Itanos. Keep on this road for 2.3kms (We send you on this slightly longer route for your convenience. Your sat-nav/maps application may want you to take any of a number of right turns – be aware many of these turnings can be very difficult to pass.). Turn RIGHT towards the harbour, signposted KOUREMENOS and when you reach the beach after 300m turn RIGHT. Go straight along the beach for just over 1km to a small Simpson Travel Sign on the left. Be aware that this road becomes a dirt track, please drive with caution. Bear right behind the ‘beach bars and windsurfing clubs’, and after 120m, PALEKASTRO VILLAS will be on your right.
